This week, a horse named Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby—one of the biggest horse races in the world. There is a golden tempo for our lives, and the Lord knows what our perfect tempo is. We sometimes run our lives at a speed that's not working well for our health, relationships, or assignments, and we miss things or burn ourselves out. It's also possible for us to go too slow with decisions, stepping out in obedience, or making pivots because of fear, doubt, confusion, apathy, or rebelliousness. He also said, "Slow down" to me this week. Slow down could have many interpretations, depending on the person He is speaking to. Slow down to notice what the Lord is doing in a given situation, environment, or in a person. Slow down to avoid hastiness and allow His timing to unfold.
