Winds of Change, by Jenny Aitchison

The winds of change have been blowing this week, coming at you from all directions, causing an unsteadiness — a tossing back and forth. There has been an unsettling of places you thought were completely settled. The dirt has been tilled up, turned over — a few more weeds and roots exposed and removed.

But even in the midst of the winds and the blowing, even though you feel shaken, because of the depth of your root structure and root system, you remain in place.
The winds are causing you to bow low in humility as you question before the Lord. Bring your heart before Him one more time and allow Him to reveal any hidden areas — any places of adjustment — those places where He wants to call you higher so that you can truly walk blameless in this generation.
As you bow your heart low in the storm, your roots go deeper and deeper. The anchoring into the deep places is required for you to rise and ascend into the heights with a strength that will enable you to stand and not be blown over.
And though the source of many winds has been the enemy — and it has been loud, fierce, and even disorienting at times — the depth in which you are rooted and anchored in hope has enabled you, even in the fiercest storms, to enter in and access the realm of peace.
Peace — where the Good Shepherd dwells.
Where your Prince of Peace is bidding and welcoming you to come in.
Where He is unbothered by the winds that rage.
Where He remains in perfect stillness.
Even in the midst of the winds of opposition, He is taking all things, using all things, and turning them for good.
Leviathan may be the source of some of the winds, but Jesus is Lord — the Prince of Peace. He is King over the winds and over the waves.
And even though it is Leviathan that blows and causes a fog of confusion, miscommunication, and misunderstanding… Even in all of these things, the Lord over the winds is orchestrating. He is shifting. He is using every wind of opposition to position you and bring you into a place of greater authority.
The answer is humility — the only posture that can protect you from a storm that has been initiated by the king of pride.
So, as you bow low before Him, rather than defending yourself, allow Him to open your heart and reveal anything He may want to remove. Choose to release the blessing of the Lord over those who seem to oppose you. For only as you keep yourself in blessing can you ensure that the curse has no place to land.
There have been curses of witchcraft released — riding the destructive breath of Leviathan — but curses cannot land where humility and blessing are your posture.
He is using all of these things for your good. He is bringing the times and the seasons of your life into place. Even in the storms, He remains in a place of peace — and He is bringing a recalibration that is much needed.
He is tuning the clock — the times and the seasons of your life — bringing it into His rhythm and into sync with the timetable of heaven.
So, be secure. You are rooted in Him. And know that even when you are feeling the atmosphere of the enemy, there is still a realm of peace available for you to enter into. Not to run, to escape, to ignore, or to pretend the storm does not exist, but to realize that you are bilocated — seated with Christ in heavenly places, even while you are standing in the midst of the storm on the earth. You are in the storm, but you are also in Christ.
And Christ is not unsettled.
Jesus is in the storm with you, and He is your peace in the storm. You are anchored and rooted in Him.
He is saying, "Come down from the high place — off the mast of the ship — where you have climbed because of the breadth of your vision. From up there, you can see the horizon. You can scan the distance. You can discern what may be coming twenty years from now. But it is also the place where the winds hit you with the greatest force — where you feel every gust, every shift in the atmosphere, every surge of the storm."
Come down.
"Come down from the place of exposure. Come down from the height where the winds buffet you most intensely. Tuck yourself into Me — into the lower place within the ship — where you may not see as far into the distance, but where you are steadied. Where the winds do not strike you with the same force. Where peace is easier to access."
You may be a visionary.
You may carry a twenty-year plan.
You may be accustomed to living on the horizon line.
But right now, He is saying, "Surrender that to Me. Live in this moment. Stay low. Stay tucked in. Know what I am asking of you in this present hour.
Because it is not the height of your sight that will sustain you in this storm — it is the depth of your rest. Do not let go of your rest or your peace, because it is the very thing anchoring you to Me in this storm.
The winds are settling.
They are dying down.
The fuel that was being thrown on the fire of destruction has run out, and you have endured."
You may have a few singed hairs.
Maybe you even smell like smoke.
But you are preserved.
And now — you, like silver refined in the fire — are purified and preserved. You are ready to step out and take hold of what He has for you.
