A number of years ago, I had an entertaining dream. In it, I was in a town setting, on a street that was unfamiliar to me, and I was wearing tap shoes. Content to tap dance on the street and enjoy myself, I suddenly spotted two women aways off who I instantly knew had evil intent. They were going to "get me," or so they thought. As they started to run toward me, my tap dancing kicked into high gear, and I tap danced away from them, continuing to evade them for quite some time, never feeling fearful, still having fun.
They were never able to catch me, and finally, in their frustration, one of the women yelled out, "How are you doing that?!"
I yelled back, "That's why they make tap shoes in every size!"
The Lord recently brought this interesting, amusing dream back to mind when I was asking for more clarity about 2025 being the year of restitution. Mid-December was when I heard in my spirit, "2025: the year of restitution." Restitution isn't a word I commonly use or hear. It can have legal implications and can mean something lost or stolen must be restored to its proper owner. (Read more about restitution here: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/restitution.) When I heard this, I had the sense that it wasn't just for me personally; this was for the body of Christ. In so many ways, the enemy has stolen things from our lives and nations. God-given assignments and destinies have been hindered and delayed. Hope for His promises to come to pass has been deferred. The truth itself needs justice.
God gave me three sections of Scripture that relate to our year of restitution and understanding of how they work together.
Isaiah 61:7: "Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs."
Psalm 90:15-17: "...the years in which we have seen evil. Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children. And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands."
Psalm 91:13: "You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot."
The everlasting joy He gives us is our superpower, our strength. With it, we trample (tap dance on) the lions and cobras (those forces with evil intent attempting to come against us) and keep our joy and forward momentum in our calling and assignments. It won't be completely without opposition or challenges, but the joy remains! Spiritual warfare can look and feel like a confident, enjoyable dance. We will see His work and glory appear in obvious ways. The good work He has called us to do will take firm root and be established. In Him establishing the work of our hands, we can be settled in knowing we're right where He wants us to be. This clarity is also a cause for joy. Our "portion" that we rejoice in is our inheritance.
We have a good inheritance, a good portion from the Lord, and 2025 is an opportunity for double-portion restitution. I encourage you to seek God like never before, which is actually a position of active resting. Ask where He wants you to shift and pivot, to release wrong expectations, identity or self-image issues, to forgive, to repent, and/or to rest your hope and trust fully on Him so you can be positioned for full restitution to come. These tap shoes of joy are available in everyone's size!
