Rerouting: Time for the Unexplored Paths, by Jenny Aitchison

Many of us have been in a season of redirection and realignment. The swirl of confusion of the last season is dissipating and new peace permeates the atmosphere. God is calling us higher by bringing us lower in humility, to a place of surrendering our plans. This season requires that we lay aside the strategies of the past and come to Him with open hands, ready to receive the new blueprints for how to build and move forward. We had been heading in one direction, and now we find ourselves turned around, pulled off the path we were once so committed to. Our previous path had become narrower, so we had to pull back, take steps backward, change directions, and allow the Lord to reroute our course.

The realignments have been difficult and at times very painful. The time for mourning has come to an end, and joy is now rising. It is time to cut ties and step away from old loyalties and commitments that have slowed and constrained us. As we step away, we take with us the valuable lessons we have learned in these places of constraint. Our muscles have been strengthened and our character developed, both were necessary for us to thrive in our new season.

This rerouting is leading us to new uncharted and unexplored paths. Where we thought for a time that we were moving backwards, we see that the course correction has positioned us for expansion. We are stepping out into broad and open spaces, where we move into heaven's abundance and start to live in alignment with the economics of the Kingdom. As we position ourselves in sonship, we have access to all that we need to advance the Kingdom.

There is an acceleration coming in the new year, an acceleration that will come and be maintained only from a posture of rest. As we unhook ourselves from our undue loyalty and commitment to the old order. A new momentum is starting to bubble up as He breaks us free from being stuck in holding patterns. God has worked a deeper level of humility in us, as our plans have not come together the way we expected. He is purifying our processes to bring us more fully in line with His ways of operating. No more strife from being out of alignment and unequally yoked. There is a new form of Kingdom unity rising as we take hold of His vision.

The discouragement that many of us had been feeling, from areas where sabotage had come in, is dissipating and new hope emerges. We have been positioned for both the comeback and the new beginning. These course corrections have put us back on track. Where we once found stumbling blocks in our paths, now we see these obstacles as the promotional stepping stones that they truly are. Where we tripped and fell, having the weaknesses of our flesh and character revealed, we have now been upgraded. As we surrender ourselves to His process and allow ourselves to be refined, He is strengthening and purifying us. In the humbling, the cracks in our foundations have been revealed and sealed. Now, He can build us into those who can hold the weight of His glory and a new weight of revelation.

As we stand in this beautiful place of surrender, holding loosely to all of our ideas, thoughts and ambitions. We place our ministries, plans, hopes, and dreams into His hands, trusting in His faithfulness. Our precious “Isaacs” are placed on His altar, the very things we believe to be the means of fulfilling the prophetic promises. As we release that which is so close to our hearts, He puts His fire on our sacrifice. Only those which can endure the refining fire will remain in this season, coming forth as gold. There can be no more counterfeits, no more “Ishmaels” —that which we created through our own striving. In rest and surrender the new wineskin has been formed in His sons and daughters.
